What Web 2.0 tool(s) have you used and how has it (have they) impacted student learning?

I've used google docs with two French teachers so their students could collaborate on researching museums, hotels, restaurants, using the metro, and planning a three-day itinerary in the city. The assignment was written entirely in French by the teachers and students used conversational French in their final project. I made the lesson into a "Three Days in Paris WebQuest." I made LAUSD email addresses for all the students and taught them how to create an iGoogle Page. One of the great advantages of google docs is that students can make a presentation even though they don't have PowerPoint software on their computer. If they don't have a computer at home, they can still make a presentation by using google docs at the public library or a friend's computer.

I collaborated with two teachers, a U.S. History teacher and 11th grade English teacher on a unit about American Historical Sites and their significance. The lesson required students to choose 4 historical places and write about them. The also had to send a postcard to a friend or relative written from the perspective of someone who lived in the past and experienced the historical event that took place there. Bibliographic citations for every research fact was required and map distances and expenses were documented as though the students actually traveled to the different places as well as paid admission and lodging expenses.

How have you implemented any of Dr. Valenza's Top Tools?
